Dropping and softening point accessories and consumables add value to your dropping point instrument. Robust and smart sample preparation tools ensure accurate and reproducible results. Economic single-use cups eliminate the need for tedious cleaning, and high-purity reference substances enable accurate temperature calibration and adjustment.
Sample preparation can be time-consuming. Our innovative sample preparation tools enable a simple, quick and precise sampling process. Disposable cups and glassware eliminate the need for tedious cleaning.
Operation according to standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International), European Pharmacopeia, and other facilitates the comparison of measurement results. The innovative sample carrier is compatible with all cups specified in the relevant standards.
Ensure accurate dropping point measurement using certified reference substances to verify the instrument's accuracy over the specified temperature range.
Robust and smart sample preparation tools speed up preparation, increase operational security, and avoid unnecessary measurement repetition.

The dropping point accessory box contains the following calibration substance:
The DP accessory box is included in the standard delivery of the DP70 and DP90. It provides useful accessories for reliable sample preparation:
Depending on the substance softening, it may be necessary to promote the flow by applying a ball weight. When performing softening point determination of resins according to METTLER TOLEDO’s cup-and-ball method (ASTM D6090), a steel ball with a diameter of 8.7 mm and a weight of 2.77 g is required to weigh the sample in the cup. The ASTM D6090 standard is based on METTLER TOLEDO instruments and specifies the requirements for automatic softening point determination of resins.
Tedious and time-consuming work in dropping and softening point analysis involves cleaning the components after completion of the analysis. Unhealthy, nonpolar solvents may be required in order to dissolve the sample residues. METTLER TOLEDO provides disposable aluminum sample cups and glass sample collectors that make cleaning unnecessary. The post-treatment process is, therefore, significantly accelerated, and the system is ready for the next measurements within a short time. The dropping point system by METTLER TOLEDO is therefore much more efficient than other competitor systems that require complete cleaning of the sample holder prior to the next analysis.
