To guide you through the unpacking and setting up of your new instrument, and to help you to perform your first measurement, we`ve put together this short instructional video.
After watching this Quick Start Guide you should be ready to successfully use the HE73 and HE53 Quick Start Guide for your moisture determination applications.
Place the instrument on a stable table, avoiding air drafts and then put the instrument together in following order:
First, open the lid and put the draft shield in place.
Then, add the sample pan holder.
Then, add the sample pan handler and then close the lid.
Then connect the power cable.
Finally, level the instrument using the front feet so that the bubble is centered. You can now switch on the instrument.
Let’s perform our first measurement with the HE73 and HE53. You now see the active measurement parameters, these are the factory settings: 105 degrees drying temperature, standard drying program and automatic switch-off criterion.
Notice the graphic indication on the display: you can see the current moisture content, the elapsed time, the current drying temperature and the graphical progress indicator...
Because different types of substances require different instrument settings in order to achieve optimal drying results, you can modify the drying temperature, the switch-off criterion and the drying program.
These are the most commonly used functions of the HE73 and HE53 and as you can see, it’s really easy very simple to use...
If you want to adjust your instrument, you can adjust the weighing unit using a calibrated weight, and you can adjust the heating unit using the optional temperature calibration kit.
To adjust the weighing unit, press the menu button, scroll to "calibration" and select weight calibration. The instrument instructs you to place a 50 g weight on the weighing pan...
Correct sample preparation and careful handling is the key to getting repeatable, accurate results. Important is to spread your sample evenly around the pan so that you end up with a thin and even layer.
This ensures uniform sample drying. And, it may be necessary to crush or grind up the sample before you start to measure with it, as I have done here with these potato crisps...
